PRIVACY OF PERSONAL INFO
What about email addresses entered when a card is sent?
Because we send email announcements for cards on behalf of our visitors, we have access to personal information such as email addresses. Our policy is to respect the privacy of our visitors. We do not sell, barter or exchange email addresses you give us when sending a card unless a visitor has given us explicit permission to do so. We may write ourselves from time to time to our customers.
Why we don't ask for email addresses until the Review page and not in the beginning?
We need email addresses only if we are sending email announcements and not if you emailing your card yourself. So we don't ask for addresses unless you want us to send card announcements after reviewing your card. You then have two ways to send a card.
Awesome Card Announce We place your card in a private location on the Web and send an email announcement to you and the card recipient. You enter email addresses on the Review page.
Awesome Card Direct When you send a card directly with your own email software, you are using your own Internet Service Provider to email the card just as you do when you send any email message. In this case, we don't need to send a card announcement. We don't need email addresses and out of respect for your privacy and time, we don't ask for them. (Please note: For Awesome Card Direct, both the card sender and card recipient need email software that can read the HTML coding on WWW pages.)
Privacy at other postcard sites?
Some postcard sites may sell, barter or exchange email addresses you give when sending a card, as a revenue source. You will need to check individually with other sites you use if you want to know their privacy policy.
PRIVACY OF CARD ITSELF
All our greeting cards are posted on private pages, with the Web address of the page being sent only to those whose email addresses are entered by the card sender.
LIMITATIONS ON PRIVACY
Though we try to protect your privacy, any use of the WWW or of email creates the possibility that someone could access the data transmitted. Because of the limitations of Web and email technology, there is always some risk on the Internet that personal information might be accessed and privacy cannot be guaranteed.
We reserve the right to write ourselves to the senders and recipients of our cards and our customers and to provide aggregate site and user information (for example, how many visitors, how many visitors from specific area codes) to third parties.
We reserve the right to provide information if we think correctly or incorrectly and reasonably or unreasonably that our cards are being used in violation of our terms of use, including, but not limited to, being used in any illegal, harmful, threatening or anti-social activity.
Opt-in: When individuals explicitly give us permission to utilize their data, for example, when a visitor explicitly requests third party product or promotional information or services, we reserve the right to release the data to the third parties.
Advertiser, Affiliates and Others: Before providing information to any party other than ACC, for example an advertiser, a shop or a "co-branded" Awesome Cards affiliate, you should check their privacy policy, as they are third parties and are not obligated to comply with our policies and practices. It is reasonable for you to expect that reputable Internet sites will post privacy policies and we recommend reading them on any site where you are inputting personal information.
