HOW TO EMAIL YOUR CARD YOURSELF
or you can read how to have us send an email announcement for you
2 Tips: - If you haven't emailed a card before, print this page to read as you try it.
- Send a regular WWW page to yourself via email before you send a card, so you can be sure the email software you have supports HTML, the language used in WWW pages and cards.

SOME TIPS ON PRINTING A CARD
WHAT IS AWESOME CARD DIRECT?
-
Our AWESOME CARD DIRECT cards give you a choice of 2 WAYS TO SEND your card: You can email them yourselves (AWESOME CARD DIRECT, explained on this page) OR, as with all our cards, have us put them on the WWW and SEND AN EMAIL ANNOUNCEMENT with our SendOut service, AWESOME CARD ANNOUNCE. Emailing a card yourself requires special email software for both you and the recipient.
Which cards have this option? Most cards created after August 1996. Either the whole collection, or the individual cards within a mixed collection, are marked as AWESOME CARD DIRECT or AWESOME CARD DIRECT cards.
WHAT YOU NEED TO EMAIL A CARD YOURSELF
- WHICH EMAIL SOFTWARE WORKS? Do both you and the card recipient have email software that allows you to send "HTML" WWW pages? (The only software that currently has this capability is the email software bundled with the final version of Netscape Navigator 3.0, first released Aug 19, 1996.) If not, emailing yourself will not work. But you can use a different method of sending your card. Read ANOTHER WAY TO SEND just below the next paragraph to see how.
- WHICH CARDS WORK? Are you on one of our cards that has the "2 Ways to Send" or "AWESOME CARD DIRECT" designation? These are the cards have the programs in place to help you email your card yourself. (Tip: on these cards you will see 2 ways to send when you receive your Review page after hitting the SHOW button.)
ANOTHER WAY TO SEND (BY EMAIL ANNOUNCEMENT)
-
If both you and the recipient of your card do not have Netscape 3.0, you can still "Send" your card another way. You can have us put it on the WWW for 7 days and send an email announcement for you, so your recipient knows your card is on the WWW and how to find it.
How? Just fill out the form to create your card. Then click the SHOW button. On the Review Page, if there is only one SEND button, click it. If there are 2 SEND buttons, click the one that says "PLEASE SEND AN ANNOUNCEMENT"". Since this was originally the only way to "Send" cyber cards, all of our cards (except past holidays and some All 4 Kids cards) have this option. You can click here if you wish to read more about this SendOut service, AWESOME CARD ANNOUNCE.
HOW TO EMAIL YOUR CARD YOURSELF
(requires email software that can read HTML, the language used on WWW pages and cards (such as final version Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later).
- Click the SHOW button after filling in the form that creates your card. On cards that have "2 ways to send", you will find 2 send buttons on the review page.
- Click on button labeled "I'LL MAIL MY CARD MYSELF".
- A new page appears. Click the link to your card.
- Use the method designated by your email software for emailing a WWW or HTML coded pages. The method varies, depending on your software.
- Fill in the F-U-L-L and E-X-A-C-T email addresses for the recipient ("Mailto") and yourself ("Cc") and the "Subject", just like usual. (For "Subject" put "Awesome Cyber Card Direct".)
NOTE: Be sure to copy yourself. We will have no records to be able to assist you, so it is important to keep your own.
- If an "As Is" option is displayed by your email software, be sure the radio button for "As Is" is checked (not "Convert to Plain Text").
- Send your email according to the method used by your email software.
SOME TIPS ON PRINTING A CARD
-
Use the PRINT command on your WWW browser software to print.
(For most browsers, such as Netscape, PRINT is in the FILE menu.)
You are welcome to print your Awesome Cyber Card, but
PRINT QUALITY IS LIMITED because graphics are at 72 dpi for good viewing quality at fast speeds. (A 300 dpi image file, needed for good printing, would take 9 times longer to view.)
Also please note that backgrounds on WWW pages do not print.
(Therefore cards with dark backgrounds and white text do not print unless you have a WWW browser, such as Netscape, which allows you to change the color of the text.)
Copyright notice will be on card. Please do not remove.
