"Go right inside, Tuck," Ms. Loose-Legs said.
Loose-Legs was the most famous pitcher in Awesome Woods. He didn't play any more. But he was so famous that you saw him on TV.
He advertised frozen fish. He was so rich he owned TWO pools, THREE ponds and SIX lakes.
Tuck thought, I want TWO pools, THREE ponds and SIX lakes. I want to be on TV.
"Hi! What's up, Champ?" Loose-Legs said.
"How can I pitch as well as you did?" Tuck said.
"Tuck, you are good because you throw the ball so hard and so fast.
I couldn't throw as hard as you do."
"Why were you good?" said Tuck.
"I did what I did," said Loose-Legs, "because I am what I am."
"What's that?" said Tuck.
"Why, a frog, of course! Your throw is as hard as your shell. And my throw was as loose as my legs."
"I want to be as loose as a frog too," said Tuck.
"But how can you?" said Loose-Legs. "You're a turtle. Be what you are. And practice. That's what I did."
Tuck knew what he had to do. He didn't want to practice more....
